Five times former British Rally Champion Jimmy McRae returns to the JLT Rally Team this season. During the past eleven years McRae has driven both Historic and Modern cars under the JLT banner recording numerous outright victories on Historic events. When invited to drive John Lloyd's Group A Subaru Impreza on the 2003 Wales Rally GB, McRae and co-driver Pauline Gullick finished 17th overall and were the highest placed British private entrant.
The crew are now looking forward to the eight day Silver Fern Marathon Rally based in South Island. McRae has some unfinished business on this event, as his 2006 rally did not produce the result expected. This year McRae will be driving a Mk2 Ford Escort, a car built by Bryce Briggs to win the rally. In recent years Jimmy's programme has been mixing modern and historic events. Jimmy is a regular visitor to New Zealand winning the 2005 Classic Otago Rally, which was based in Dunedin.
Jimmy together with son Alister are also developing the McRae Enduro. A machine developed for cross-country rallying, which John Lloyd will be using on the Baja GB.
Alister was also supported by JLT in the 2004 Production World Rally Championship.
