Lloyd wins Class

The Quinton Rally based in Llandovery is one of the favourite events for the JLT Rally Team. It was a cloudy day with light rain but John Lloyd and Adrian Cavenagh had a good run increasing their speed throughout the day and although slowed by a puncture finished 6th overall and won their class.

A puncture at the start of the fifth stage dropped them from 5th to 7th overall. Determined to claw back some time they were fourth fastest on the following stage and third fastest on the final stage. "It was good fun, I am just sorry that Andrew's rally ended in an accident. I missed our private challenge", said Lloyd at the end of the final stage on the Eppynt ranges.

Andrew Barnes rally ended abruptly on the second stage when he went into a slow corner carrying too much speed. The Ford Focus was airborne after hitting a pothole halfway around the corner landing in the undergrowth and slowly rolled onto the co-drivers side. Guy Simmons had difficulty getting out of the car as it was bedded on logs. Both crew were uninjured and there was only slight damage to the car.

The event was won by BTR teammates Steve Perez and Paul Spooner driving the Vodka Kick 2007 Ford Focus WRC who have now taken the lead in the 2010 BTRDA Rally Championship with John and Andrew in 10th and 11th place.

The teams next outing is the Woodpecker Rally based at Ludlow Racecourse on Saturday 4th September.
