Unique Experience for Goodwood Guests

Lloyd & Partners Limited entertained a select group of clients at Goodwood on Thursday 3rd September 2009 providing an unique experience for them to take passenger rides in World Rally Cars driven by two British Championship winners and Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Lloyd & Partners Limited.

These comments have been received by Lloyd & Partners Limited staff and invited guests.

Nick Peck, Lloyd & Partners Limited

"There was a palpable sense of anticipation as hosts and guests arrived at the top of the Goodwood Hill Climb to the meeting place for the LPL Rally Day. Unlike track days and the like, virtually none of the guests had sat in a rally car before, or been in one driven in anger, so the excitement was intense! We were quickly split up into teams in order to optimise the experience, and then it was straight into flameproof clothing for the first runs of the day. Weather conditions were good but the going, according to our expert drivers, very slippery, as evidenced by John Lloyd's early near brush up with a tree - deliberate we are sure. Early reports from guests were along the lines of "wow" and "that was fantastic", accompanied by the wail of high powered engines departing, and in John's case, arriving back even quicker, with spectacular and no doubt totally necessary handbrake turns! The morning rushed by, and even the disappointment of John's gearbox failing did little to detract from the day. Even now, some days later, guests are commenting with huge enthusiasm about the experience, the noise, the G force, and a new respect for those who can actually control those aggressive beasts! many thanks and "respect" to John, Andrew, Steve and Will for driving, and to Pauline, Elaine and all the other people for organising such a great event ".

David Roe, Ascot

"Just a brief note to thank you for the large adrenalin shot that you gave me yesterday. Despite being a ‘petrol head’ most of my experiences are tarmac-related and I have never before experienced anything like it. I and was taken-aback by the driving technique- constant steering alterations combined with the fluid power/braking coordination. Add to that the degree of mild insanity incorporated ensures that I will remember the experience for many a moon".

Richard Burnett, Ark Syndicate

"Having only ever watched rallying on TV, I was unprepared for the noise, power, speed and sheer brute force of the experience.  John and Andrew worked very hard making sure each of us had a real experience of a rally stage.  I’m sure John will also be keen to know how professional BTR were.  Although they were busy, all the mechanics made time to answer our questions, explain how events worked and squeeze us into the passenger seat.

Brian Hunt, QBE

"The tight, twisty stage Goodwood Forest Rally Stage made a superb venue; located within the beautiful grounds of Goodwood House, not only is this probably the most easily accessible Special Stage in the South of England, but it was also a great thrill to drive up the famous Goodwood hill climb course, as used for the annual Festival Of Speed, to reach it!  Our four experienced rally drivers – John, Andrew Barnes, Steve Perez and Will Nicholls – acted as high-speed chauffeurs for the day, each demonstrating amazing car control as they pushed their respective World Rally Cars hard around the stage with their guests buckled in tightly in the co-driver’s seat.  Their exploits gave us all first-hand experience of what it’s like to compete on the loose with the smallest margins for error, and the team awnings and marquee gave us a real sense of what it’s like to be in a Service Park on a rally.  The sound of the cars battling through the forest took me back to my many visits to Rally GB over the years – all in all, a memorable day and the most fun I’ve had on four wheels in ages!"
