All down to the final stage |
Andrew Barnes and John Lloyd had one of their closest battles in rallying on last weekends Woodpecker Rally which was based at Ludlow Racecourse taking in the forestry stages of Shropshire and the classic Radnor complex.
The Insurantz Ford Focus' started their day long challenge on the first stage with Lloyd beating Barnes by one second, the times on stage two saw Brains beating Lloyd by one second. So the battle continued with Lloyd waiting at the end of the last stage to see who had recorded the fastest time to become victor. It was Lloyd who eventually finished only 5 seconds ahead of his business partner. Barnes having spun on the last stage losing valuable seconds.
Will Nicholls and Nick Broom driving their Subaru Impreza WRC. won the penultimate round of the BTRDA Rally Championship with Lloyd and Barnes finishing 14th and 15th respectively. The Championship points record Lloyd in 13th place and Barnes 18th overall.
It will be a long trek to Llandudno for the final round, the Cambrian Rally on Saturday 17th October 2009.
