John Lloyd co-driven by Pauline Gullick driving the Jardine Lloyd Thompson supported Ford Focus WRC survived the slippery stages in Walter's Arena, Resolven and Rhondda to finish 4th overall, third in class and Pauline taking the leading lady co-driver award on Saturday's (16th August 2008) Neath Valley Stages Rally based in Walters Arena. Over seventy competitors started this one day event.
"Finishing the first stage at Walters was a challenge but when we arrived at Resolven to face the driving rain and fog one could not believe it was the middle of August, conditions were more in keeping with Wales Rally GB. I had a problem with the demister on the second stage and lost 30 seconds due to lack of vision. It was a great event and I am pleased with our result having lost time on the earlier stage. It is now only two weeks until the Woodpecker Rally (30th August) which is based at Ludlow Race Course. I will be joined there by team-mate Andrew Barnes. With only two weeks between events I hope to be on the pace from the start of this familiar rally," said John Lloyd in a very muddy Walter's Arena at the end of the Neath Valley Stages.
The Ford Focus WRC of Mick O'Brien and Paul Spooner won the event for the second year running with Damien Cole's Hyundai in second place.
