Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) who have been associated with the McRae family for over 13 years are supporting this year’s Colin McRae Stages Rally which will take the form of a very special tribute to the memory of Britain’s favourite rallying son - Colin McRae. Colin supported this event for the past ten years and regularly ran as Course opening car in both MkI and MkII Escorts in order to give his thousands of fans the opportunity to see him in action at first hand.
Former World Rally Champion Bjorn Waldegard will be driving a Tuthill Porsche 911 supported by JLT, the car in which he finished third overall on last weekends Midnight Sun Rally in Sweden. This full spec 3ltr Historic rally car was driven by Colin McRae during 2004 at Sweet Lamb when he was considering competing on the Roger Clark Rally with the Tuthill Rally Team.
“I am very pleased that Jimmy McRae invited me to drive on this unique event in honour of Colin and would like to thank Jardine Lloyd Thompson and the Tuthill Porsche Team for making this possible. The event has already attracted entries from Ari Vatanen, Stig Blomqvist, Hannu Mikkola, Russell Brookes, Andrew Cowan, Phil Collins, Jimmy and Alister McRae. It will be a very special weekend in memory of Britain’s first and youngest World Rally Champion.” said Bjorn Waldegard at the finish of the Midnight Sun Rally in Sweden earlier this week.
The 45-mile stage event on Saturday 27th September will includes classic stages such as Craigvinean, Drummond Hill and Errochty. JLT co-driver Pauline Gullick will partner Waldegard.
