It was celebrations for John Lloyd at the end of the Bulldog Rally as his fine sixth place finish gave him fifth overall in the 2007 MSA Gravel Rally Championship winning his class and Old Stagers Award.
“This has been a great year for Pauline Gullick and I. We have finished every rally this season in the Jardine Lloyd Thompson supported Ford Focus WRC. The Geoff Jones Motorsport Team have prepared a good reliable car for us. I am very pleased to have finished fifth overall in the National British rally series against such fierce competition as we also missed the two tarmac rounds in the Isle of Man and Ireland as I do not enjoy the tarmac. Marcus Dodd driving a Hyundai Accent WRC won the series with Steve Perez in second place.
The Bulldog is an event I enjoy especially with the long stages, however I did not get into the swing of the earlier stages, as the conditions were very slippery. I hit a bank on the third stage but got it all together on the final two sections of the day. I was very please to finish sixth as we started the last stage 14.2 seconds behind Nik Elsmore. It could not have been a closer finish as I took 14.3 seconds off him on the final stage to finish one second ahead.
I have one more British event this year, the Tempest Rally which is based in Aldershot on Saturday 10th November. This is one of my favourite rallies as it is close to London which enables friends and family to come along and support our team. The event starts from Pegasus Village, Aldershot at 9am when Andrew Barnes and I will be in action both driving similar Ford Focus WRC”, said John Lloyd.
