On Saturday 24th March the Jardine Lloyd Thompson Rally Team were in action on the Border Counties Rally based in the Kielder forest complex, the second round of the MSA Gravel Rally Championship
John Lloyd and Pauline Gullick driving the Ford Focus WRC found the surface of the fast Kielder stages challenging finishing 12th overall leaving them in 6th position in the championship placings.
Team mates Andrew Barnes and Neil Dashfield driving a Subaru Impreza N11 had an eventful rally with the brake pipe bursting on stage 3. "It certainly grabs your attention when you are driving down a long straight at 100 mph and the brake pedal goes straight to the floor. We drove ten miles of the Kielder complex with no brakes," said Andrew Barnes who was very pleased to finish the event.
Lloyd's next event is the Pirelli National Rally on Saturday 21st April based in Carlisle, the first round of the Gravel Rally Masters whilst Barnes will be competing in the Isle of Man.
11-12th May, the next round of the MSA Gravel Rally Championship.
