John Lloyd and Andrew Barnes will be taking on the countries leading drivers when they compete in the 2007 Hankook MSA Gravel Rally Championship which has rounds in England, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man and Southern Ireland.
The Ford Focus WRC in which Mark Higgins won the 2005 British Rally Championship will be driven by John Lloyd with his regular co-driver Pauline Gullick sat alongside.
"I am very excited about the forthcoming season and am looking forward to testing the car this weekend with Geoff Jones sat alongside. I have competed on several of the ANCRO rounds in previous years, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. These are good one-day events, which do not involve recce, which is something I find boring, and I do not have time for with my busy life in the Insurance market.
My business partner Andrew Barnes will also be competing on the ANCRO series driving a Subaru Impreza N11. This was originally a Prodrive test car, which was driven by Seb Ling on the 2005 Wales Rally GB. Geoff Jones bought the crashed car early last year and spent the year rebuilding the Subaru and as a shakedown drove it on the Grizedale Stages finishing second overall behind Mathew Wilson’s Focus WRC. Neil Dashfield who partnered Geoff on the December classic will co-drive for Andrew in the Jardine Lloyd Thompson supported team run by Geoff Jones Motorsport and we will be using Yokohama tyres," said Lloyd whilst taking a break from his City desk.
There are seven rounds in the championship and registered competitors will count their best SIX scores towards the overall championship, meaning only one round can be dropped. The City Brokers plan to compete in all seven events of the series.
As a shakedown for this year’s championship the Jardine Lloyd Thompson cars have entered the Wyedean Rally, which is based in Chepstow on Saturday 10th February.
